The 27 th SEA Games will be hosted by Myanmar from 11 to 22 Dec 2013. The venue will be at the Capital Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay and Ngwe Saung Beach.
With the supports of the ASEAN friends Myanmar has the opportunity to host the game again after 44 years. Myanmar was the host for 1961, 2 nd SEAP Game and 1969, 5 th SEAP Game. 2013 is a remarkable year for Myanmar as the main venue for the Games will be at her new State Capital Naypyitaw for the first time.

Wunna Theikdi Stadium will be the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games. Most of the major events will be held in Naypyitaw Sports Facilities. Wunna Theikdi Stadium has the seating capacity of Naypyitaw, declared to be the biggest Stadium in Myanmar.

In Yangon the venues are at Thuwana National Sports Complex, Aung San Stadium, MCC, Theinphyu Stadium, NIS(1) and North Dagon Shooting Range. Aung San Stadium is the oldest National Stadium which has hosted the last two SEAP Games. A beautiful white sand beach in Ngwe Saung, about 4 hours drive from Yangon will co-host the water sports, sailing.

Mandalay the culture city of Myanmar will also co-host the Games at its biggest Bahtoo Stadium. All the participants will be competed in 34 sports events, the glory every sportsman intend to pursue in their lives. The Theme for this year SEA Game is Green, Clean and Friendship.
The idea of organizing the South East Asia Peninsulas Games appeared in 22 nd, May, 1958. On that day, Representatives of Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia and Thailand had a meeting and SEAP Games was came out by the proposal of Thailand Representative.

Objectives are :
(1)To improve the friendship among SEAP Countries.
(2)To compete with higher level in Asian and Olympic Games using their skills and performance to Youth in the region.
Therefore, in 1959, to celebrate the 1 st SEAP Games was decided in Bangkok, Thailand and to organize it between the period of Asian and Olympic Games once in every two years.
It was appropriated to celebrate 3 rd SEAP Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 1963, but failed in various reasons. In 1965, the 3 rd SEAP Games was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. From that time on, it was held regularly once in twice years.
The 9th SEAP Games in 1977, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a meeting was held by ex-Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mr. Tun Abdul Razak suggested let in Indonesia, Philippine and change its name SEAP Games to SEA Games.

In 1977, Indonesia and Philippine were members of 9 th SEA Games and on 10th October, 1977, Brunei became the 10 th SEA Games participant. Nowadays, it forms with eleven member countries because Timor Leste is the last participant of SEA Games.
